ART * MUSIC * LITERATURE.
The Arts Community of Easton is accepting applications from artists and artisans to participate in the 16th Annual Riverside Festival of the Arts to be held in the riverside parks on Larry Holmes Drive, where the scenic Lehigh and Delaware Rivers meet in Easton PA. The festival is on Saturday and Sunday, September 22+23 – the same weekend as Movies @ the Mill; don’t miss this jam-packed weekend of Art in Easton.
The Riverside Festival is a multi-arts event, the centerpiece of which is a Juried Art Show and Sale showcasing local artists and artisans from the regional area. Art and fine crafts will be exhibited for sale and for evaluation by this year’s panel of judges. $1600 in cash prizes will be awarded in two categories: Fine Arts, and Fine Crafts — expect plenty of unique inspired art.
There will also be a 3rd annual Plein Air Art contest sponsored by Metris Arts Consulting. Open to all artists this costs $10 to enter – you receive an 18”x24” canvas on Saturday, and plunk down somewhere in our colorful town to create your piece. Plein Air Art contestants compete for $500 in contest prizes.
Exciting events on tap for this year’s festival include a bigger-than-ever live
music lineup, chock full of gifted regional singer-songwriters. Music headliner is New Jersey’s VooDUDES who will come equipped with a unique blend of New Orleans funk, blues, boogie-woogie with a healthy pinch of Zydeco, southern soul and naturally, wash-board.
Regional authors and poets of the Greater Lehigh Valley Writers Group and
poets will read their works. World-renown poet Gerald Stern will read his
poetry and conduct a book-signing on Sunday the 23rd.
Photographers from Easton’s iMiJ shop will be running a ’live action’ photo-booth to capture the festival’s creative vibe. There will be a dedicated area for free childrens’ art workshops & Crayola ‘test lab’ for kids to try out some art supplies.
Homebase Skateshop will demonstrate some cool tricks at this year’s festival, and plans are in the works for a board-art workshop. Stay tuned on
